House crickets usually live outdoors but can just as well survive inside a home or other structure. They find their way in through small cracks and crevices.

A House cricket is about the same size as a Field cricket (3/4 to 1 inch in length) and also has well- developed wings. The head is lighter in color than a Field cricket with three dark crossbars. Female House crickets come indoors looking for shelter, usually in the fall; a safe and quite place to lay their eggs. It’s the male cricket that sings chirping songs when trying to attract females. One reason these crickets can survive indoors is because they do eat human food.
