Description of Employment Positions

Teamwork

All positions within the company require teamwork. Without teamwork, the team as a whole and the individual on the team fail.

Teamwork requires that no matter what position you hold within the company, that you strive to do your best at your assigned task and that you are willing to chip in and assist with any other task assigned, within your ability and training, to keep teamwork in forward momentum and to collectively achieve high productivity standards. This involves peer-to-peer teamwork, supervisor-supervisee teamwork, cross-team teamwork and cross-function teamwork. Our expectation is that there will be times when teamwork will require work that may be outside the primary area of responsibility, so long as it has been accompanied by orientation and/or training for that task.

Applicator-in-Training

This position is held by a new employee with no pest control skills who will be training for fieldwork. All work during this period is under supervision. No pesticide is to be dispensed during this period, except under the direct and physical presence of a manager. Applicators-in-Training are not permitted to drive company vehicles. This period should last no more than 2 weeks.

Junior Applicator

This position is held by a licensed applicator with little pest control job exposure. The junior applicator has access to a company vehicle and provides pesticide treatments under watchful supervision close at hand. The Junior Applicator should be in daily, if not hourly contact with the supervisor to assess and properly treat in situations that are not familiar to the applicator. This position generally should be held for no more than one year. The junior applicator has primary responsibility for his or her safe, efficient, organized, productive, clean and ethical operation.

Applicator

This position is held by an applicator with considerable experience, who has seen most of the routine situations that arise in daily pest control. The technician must still rely on a field supervisor to diagnose and sell pest control, as well as for periodic questioning and supervision and proper application. She/he should make every attempt to know customers needs and their treatment requirements. This position is generally held by an applicator with 2 months to 3 years experience. The applicator has primary responsibility for his or her safe, efficient, organized, productive, clean and ethical operation.

Senior Applicator

This position is held by an applicator who is well versed in daily pest control situations, but who is not legally qualified to move to the field representative level. This technician should be able to operate with minimal supervision when dealing with routine pest control. She/he should know his customers very well and their treatment requirements. The senior applicator has primary responsibility for his or her safe, efficient, organized, productive, clean and ethical operation.

Junior Consulting Field Representative

This person must hold at least a structural field representative or Q.A.C. license. She/he must be able to meet the requirements of the applicator level and also be able to diagnose routine pest problems. She/he must be able to identify mistreatments and know how to avoid and/or respond to them. She/he operates under the supervision of a senior field manager. The junior consulting field representative has primary responsibility for his or her safe, efficient, organized, productive, clean and ethical operation.

Consulting Field Representative

This person meets all the requirements of the junior level, plus she/he is fully competent in the diagnosis and treatment of a large array of pest problems. The field representative has also begun to develop area(s) of specialized interest and knowledge. The field representative operates under the supervision of a senior field rep or manager.

Senior Consulting Field Representative

This person meets all the requirements of the field representative, plus she/he has a known specialized competency. She/he is able to diagnose, sell and treat high margin, sophisticated jobs/projects with limited supervision from senior management. This person operates with high efficiency and represents the highest standards of productivity and teamwork within the company. When operating in a supervisory capacity, this person has primary responsibility for his or her safe, efficient, productive, clean and ethical operation, as well as for monitoring, guiding and managing the same for any subordinates.

Site or Department Manager

A) Growing sales, not only through personal example, but by training and guiding field personnel and staff call takers, to maximize potential sales. Additionally, this person must advise the owners as needed to structure sales and marketing approaches to increase sales.

B) Training licensed professionals in proper safety measures and technical approach, using chemical and non-chemical management skills (better known as Integrated Pest Management) and procedural standards. Additionally, you will advise owners as needed to provision operational tools/structures to maximize field potentials.

C) Planning, forecasting and budgeting for long-term goals, jointly with owners.

D) Management with paramount concern for customer focused care, safety and ethical conduct.

Customer Service and Sales Representative

A) Answering incoming calls and scheduling customers to different technicians.

B) Filing and organizing posted work orders, customer files, contracts and all other paperwork.

C) Occasional word processing

D) Customer calling

E) Any other assistance needed by the Office Manager

Office Manager

A) The over-all organization and operation of non-field personnel toward Hearts Pest Management goals under the supervision of senior management. This person trains and prepares call takers to be competent pest management professionals, able, ready, prepared and organized to meet customer needs. This person manages an office so as to be safe, efficient, productive, clean and ethical.

B) This person has direct responsibility for inbound sales.

C) This person is responsible for arranging and managing route technician schedules in coordination with the each technician.
