Waking up with bug bites is no fun. When it happens again and again, it can be extremely frustrating. Over time, the bites, infections and pyschological imparts can set in. Repeatedly, you are asking: How did these bugs get here? Pets are great for unrequanted love. They do not not ask much of us and give so much. But we have heavy responsibilities for our pets, to keep them clean, well disciplined, healthy, controlled and well behaved. Domestic dogs, cats, birds and other pets are often the culprits that are vectoring severe pest problems. They may not have started the problem. But they often transfer it. Here are some typical cases of bugs in your bed: The dog that comes in contact with rats that enter your yard in search of food, only to later cuddle with you on your bed. (Remember, that food to a rat is not like food for a human. Feces do contain proteins that are eaten by many critters). The cat that curls up on the porch, just above where squirrels are munching on garbage pulled from the garbage can. Guess what? Your lovable cat then gets picked up and brought into the bed. Birds in an aviary that acquire mites found in the environment closely shared with wild birds. Those domestic birds are then kissed and cuddled. The mites that they have acquired are now in close proximity to take notice of pheromones that attract them to your bed. The dog that goes out into a flea infested area of the yard and then comes in the house and cuddles up on the bed. These are the ways that mites and fleas often manage to get into the bed. But bed bugs are also transferred by pets. Bed bugs will infest domestic pets. Remember that bed bugs evolved from the caves where humans first shared living quarters with bats and birds. Bed bugs, bat bugs and bird bugs are closely related and bed bugs will find sustenance for pets and certainly will use them for hitchhiking. You cannot leave your pets out of the equation when you are determining how the pest problem started, how it manages to continue and how to eventually eliminate the pest infestation that is destroying your sleep.
