We are a company that understands the importance of keeping pests at bay while maintaining the integrity of the environment. Mild in climate, Culver City has pests year round just like most of Southern California’s cities.

Culver City Ant Control

Lone Red Harvester Ant.

The ants are coming!!! Wait, in Culver City, they’re already here! Ants are a major nuisance in and outside of the home.

Although they do have their place outside aerating the soil and eating decomposed matter but when it comes to invading our kitchen cabinets, the ants have got to go!

Hearts Pest Management can treat ants with both traditional and/or organic methods. We have a “Greenthumb” maintenance program that eliminates and deters ants from coming indoors.

Red Ants

Cracks in asphalt or concrete make excellent entrances and exits for an ant colony.

Some ants like protein while other species go for sweets so it is important to identify the type of ant in order to provide the best and most effective treatment.

Hearts service representatives inspect each service to find trails of ants and their nests to keep them from entering your home.

Landscape Pest Management in Culver City

Hearts Pest Management treats a wide variety of landscape pests including whitefly, aphids, fungus, fleas, grubs, snails, gophers, rats, and squirrels.

KOI Pond

Our Culver City customers with KOI ponds opt for our “Greenthumb” program.

Hearts provides landscape inspections free-of-charge, helping homeowners and businesses keep their shrubs and trees looking healthy.

Here are some of the pests you may have in your garden landscape that we can treat:

Aphids are one of the most common landscape pest, that and whiteflies.

Aphids have long slender mouthparts that they use to pierce and remove fluids from tender parts of the plant.

aphids on leaf

Aphids cause discoloration of leaves.

Large populations of aphids will cause leaves to discolor, turning them a yellow-brown.

Hibiscus flower and whitefly

Hibiscus trees often need pest management for control of whiteflies.

Whiteflies are usually found on the underside of the leaf. They too cause leaves to yellow and also appear dried out.

Both whiteflies and aphids excrete honeydew which attracts ants. Ever wonder why your shrub or trees has a bunch of ants around it?

Crow looking for grubs

Crows are notorious for causing damage to lawns when digging for grubs.

Ants will actually “farm” aphids and keep them in protected areas away from predators in exchange for the honeydew.

Grubs in the grass can cause a secondary pest – crows.

Crows will dig, searching for worms and grubs, creating brown patches throughout your lawn.

garden snail and leaf

Snails can be a real nuisance; they tend to congregate in damp, humid areas under boards, stones and potted plants.

Of course, there isn’t anything we can do about crows but we can help control the amount of grubs as well as snails in your yard!

Did you know that rats eat snails? If you have a lot of snails, you could be attracting rats. We can help!

Spider Control in Culver City

There are really only two spiders of medical importance for Culver City residents – Black and Brown Widow spiders.

The only Brown Recluse spiders we have in Southern California is in the desert.

western spotted orb weaver spider

Orb-weavers are beneficial garden spiders.

Daddy Long-legs can’t even penetrate human skin and usually disappear within a day or two. Orb-weavers that create beautiful, intricate webs outdoors are actually beneficial for the landscape by eating garden pests - think of them as miniature pest control agents for your garden.

Black and Brown Widow Spiders

Brown and Black Widow Females – Note the spiky egg sac of the Brown Widow.

It’s the Black and Brown Widow spiders that bite when threatened and hide in dark corners. Brown Widows, especially, like to hide under patio furniture children’s outdoor play equipment, not to mention the BBQ. Both widow spiders have messy, Halloween-looking webs.

Black Widows have a red hourglass on their abdomen while Brown Widows have an orange one. Brown Widow egg sacs are spiky and cream color which makes them easily identifiable.

Widow spiders have to be eliminated on contact and their egg sacs destroyed. If you have a lot of spiders, it’s because you also have a lot of insects – spider food.

Hearts will eliminate spiders and their egg sacs, treat for insects and remove any accessible webs around the perimeter of your home.

Culver City Rodent Control

Roof rat

Roof rats are great climbers; branches touching the roof should periodically be cut back to keep them from coming indoors.

Hearts Pest Management provides rodent control of rats, mice, gophers, and squirrels.

And, we offer rodent inspections free-of-charge to Culver City residents.

You know you have rats if you hear noises at night in the ceiling or walls of your home.

Once Roof rats are in your attic, they destroy the insulation by urinating on it; breathing in the contaminated insulation and feces through air vents can transmit disease to you and your family.

Hearts provides trapping and remediation, exclusion (blocking off where the rats and mice got in), as well as clean-up of the attic.

Your service professional may also recommend a monthly rodent baiting service to keep rats out of the yard and from coming indoors.

Pocket Gopher

Pocket Gopher

Gophers not only tear up the landscape and ruin plants; their tunnels can cause concrete areas such as driveways and paths to buckle and crack.

When your Hearts representative does monthly gopher service for you, he or she will routinely inspect your yard to check for activity and treat where necessary.

Sometimes areas of activity are under bushes and not as obvious as open area mounds.

Commercial Pest Control for Culver City

Hearts Pest Management will first inspect commercial buildings including medical facilities, retirement centers, restaurants, industrial buildings, churches, schools, hotels, etc. before recommending a pest management plan and course of action.

Hearts helps commercial owners determine the type of pest issues they have or may encounter in the future and provide the best method of treatment tailored to their needs.

Restaurants often battle with roaches, flies, ants, and other pests which Hearts can help eliminate.

Fly on railing

Flies are a problem for restaurants and other food establishments.

Hotels often have problems with bed bugs; Hearts is able to treat for bed bugs and also provide a bed bug monitoring system to maintain the facility.

Medical facilities and retirement homes are unique because residents and/or patients cannot leave the premises. Hearts is able to treat these types of facilities utilizing organic products and Integrated Pest Management solutions for their pest control needs.
