A First in Southern California! Hearts Pest Management Leads the Way with EcoWise Certification! 9/18/2007 EcoWise Certified has granted Hearts Pest Management its' very first certification outside the San Francisco Bay Area. EcoWise Certifiied was founded by an association of Bay Area government agencies, in an effort to preserve water quality and due to other environmental issues related to pesticide usage. The association encourages a progressive, integrated pest management (I.P.M) approach to pest control, that focuses on inspection, prevention, communication and partnership. Treatments are handled in a least invasive manner. Materials used in treatment are reviewed by the EcoWise organization for toxicity issues. Organic labels are highly encouraged, with a reasonable understanding that more aggressive treatments are sometimes needed after careful review. EcoWise certification does not signify that all company services are "EcoWise Certified services," rather that you can purchase certain services provided in a manner that is fully EcoWise Certified compliant and that the company has practices, procedures and standards in place that have been reviewed and approved by the certifing organization. Use the above link for more information about EcoWise Certified. |

Hearts Pest Management Featured by San Diego Union-Tribune Hearts Pest Management is Featured in a 2007 New Year's Eve San Diego Union-Tribune story! See what the Union-Tribune has to say about our company and leadership; A Good Buzz by David Berlin, December 31, 2006 SignOnSanDiego Hearts Pest Management Wins Proposal for Organic and Least Toxic Pest Services for Native–Americans in San Diego 4/2006 A San Diego County tribe of Native-Americans has contracted with Hearts Pest Management to provide services, training, educational seminars and employment in the arena of I.P.M., least toxic and organic pest control on the reservation. Work will include reviewing best practices for common areas, residences, water resources, weed management, rodent control(mice & rats) and agricultural grove. Hearts will be providing training and potential employment to the tribe to increase self-sufficiency and professional capability. Under this grant, Hearts is teaching after-school students pest identification of local insect species, as well as pesticide safety. In The News: Los Angeles County case of Bubonic Plague 4/2006 A case of bubonic plague was diagnosed in Los Angeles County. The source of infection was a bite from a flea infected by dead rodents or rats. Bubonic plague is a serious, though non-contagious disease. If the symptoms are not properly identified and treated, the condition can evolve into pneumonic plague, which is airborne and transmits from person to person. Can this happen is San Diego and Riverside County? Without resorting to hysteria, the answer is yes! The best response is prevention. If you are hearing sounds in your attic or "If your walls are talking" to you, contact us for a rodent inspection. Visit our rodent and parasite web pages for more information. Hearts Pest Management Supports TV-based Missing Children Alerts Hearts Pest Management is about more than pest control. Starting 3/27/06, Hearts will be broadcasting daytime news alerts for missing children on several television networks. For more information on how your organization can help bring home missing children, go to Community Creative Broadcasting. Hearts Pest Management Receives Tree Injection Certification - No chemical drift, no worries! Micro-injection delivers systemic antibiotics, fungicides, insecticides and mineral nutrients, directly into a tree without any contact with the environment, thereby protecting groundwater and air quality. Direct systemic injection also means that every drop is efficiently going to treat and nourish the tree, compared to spray applications, which can incur over 50% waste of chemicals that do not contact and grip the intended tree surface. Trunk injections have become an increasingly popular alternative to spray applications in the control of tree diseases in urban, suburban and rural environments. Your neighbors will not complain or worry! Those large trees can now be treated safely, from the highest branch tops to the deepest roots!
