Same Quality Pest Control

It’s been a little over a year since I first started here at Hearts. It’s remarkable how quickly time has flown. It’s also remarkable how much has changed.

Just since I’ve arrived, there have been new policies, new laws, products, rules, regulations, lions, tigers, and bears, etc.

The good thing is that we’re all in a constant state of evolution at Hearts.

I’ve learned plenty from the veterans here (some of whom you may have had the pleasure of meeting) and it seems that professional growth here is paramount. You can never learn too much from someone or gain too much exposure to any aspect of our business.

Education and training seem to be ongoing. No one here is allowed to be a generic “spray jockey.”

Last week we went out to an inspection for mites. Sometimes we are able to help directly, though it can be extremely hard to find mites. Sometimes there are skin-mind connections or just pure psycho-somatic symptoms. But we do also find current or initial pest related reasons for feelings of mite bites. Often, even if we can’t find mites, we are able to help by identifying conditions that lead to mites, such as proximity to rats, bats, mice, birds and pets that come in close contact with these critters.

Anyway, last week we went on such an inspection but backed off immediately when we saw damage that had been caused by a pest control company that is active in flea control and attempted to do something similar for mite control. The company used Bayer Drione dust. They used a heavy volume applicator to push the pesticide throughout the attic.

Lessons from the Hospitality Industry for Pest Control

Chocolates Under the Pillow? “Chocolates Under the Pillow Aren’t Enough” is the title of a book I discovered by Jonathan Tisch, the CEO of Loews Hotels. I loved what Jonathan Tisch had to say. His words are very similar to those of Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, someone I admire greatly. I would hope that someday, people would think of me as the person, and of Hearts Pest Management as the company, that brought that type of total quality mentality to the pest control industry. I know we are not yet there, but we are trying with all our heart.

Pest Control Customer Water Usage

The other day I received a call from a customer who was concerned about water usage at their house. Well, actually, what they were concerned about was water usage from their house. To answer the question in detail, I posted a forum question: What is the cost of water usage by pest control companies?
